Our Mission
For nearly 100 years, Westminster House has been committed to engaging and serving the UC Berkeley campus community. Our mission as a non-profit organization is to provide the highest level of quality residential communities, programs and services for students and faculty from diverse backgrounds.
Through housing and various Residential Life programs, Westminster House seeks to embody the values of the Christian tradition for persons of all faiths by attending to their physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual needs.
We endeavor to:
- Offer a welcoming residential community for students of all faith backgrounds in keeping with the Christian tradition of hospitality.
- Engage the campus community in dialogue about the person of Jesus Christ.
- Encourage personal spiritual growth through Bible study, worship, fellowship, and service.
- Provide opportunities for students and faculty to act and witness for social justice in the spirit of Jesus and the prophets, through advocacy, seminars, conferences, travel and work with the poor and the oppressed.
- Create a flourishing center of cultural and theological exchange in which the great themes of the Christian faith can be celebrated, discussed, critiqued, embraced and enacted.
